Kristin has 17 years of legal experience, specializing in representing healthcare, corporate and governmental clients on regulatory and administrative compliance issues. She has argued cases, including complex litigation matters and arbitrations at the local, state and federal court level. She is Co-coordinator of the firm’s Healthcare Practice Group, Coordinator of the Environmental Practice Group and an active member of the Business Practice Group.
 
Prior to joining Black McCuskey, a majority of Kristin’s practice concentrated in health care law, serving as co-counsel for Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, Georgia and the Southwest Georgia Healthcare Association. During her tenure, she utilized her legal experience in peer review and the Health Care Quality Improvement Act to lead the hospital in updating by-laws and fair hearing plans for physicians. Kristin has handled numerous matters related to legal issues concerning Stark II, non-compete agreements, OIG compliance, collections, liens, and negotiations of physician recruitment contracts, including relocation costs, signing bonuses, student loan repayments and J-1 Visas.

A former intern of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Kristin has experience in Clean Water Act enforcement and well monitoring. She provides general counsel to the largest solid waste management district in Ohio. She has helped clients with underground water contamination issues, as well as advised corporate clients on compliance issues related to underground storage tanks regulations set forth by BUSTR and PUSTRCB.

Kristin is a member of the Ohio, Alabama, Georgia, and American Bar Associations and is licensed to practice in these states. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, Health Law and Environmental Law sections and the American Health Lawyers Association. In addition, she is the chairperson of the Stark County Bar Association’s Health Care Law Committee and a member of the Tuscarawas Bar Association, Union Hospital Auxiliary and Mercy Service League. Kristin is a board member of the Tuscarawas Free Clinic for the Working Uninsured, the Northeast Ohio Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Access Health Stark County and Union Country Club. She is a graduate of Leadership Tuscarawas County.
